Why Poetry Matters Here

A reflection by Brent M. Jones on the purpose of poetry on this site, and why it continues to matter.

Poetry doesn’t have to be grand to be meaningful.
Sometimes, a few well-placed words are enough to quiet the noise, ask the right question, or remind us we’re not alone.

On this site, poetry is more than a creative outlet. It is a way to pause. A way to reflect. A way to explore what often goes unsaid.

Here you’ll find my original poems, some drawn from quiet moments, others shaped by lived questions, as well as selected works by poets and writers who have stayed with me over time. Whether written or reflected on, each piece is here for a reason.

Poetry is where words stop performing and start listening.
— Brent M. Jones

You don’t have to understand a poem completely for it to understand you.

Some truths are too quiet to be said out loud. That’s why we write poems.
